Ephemeral Crystals

For those who've seen my last submission (and read the description).. I mentioned that I couldn't get the colors to work. However, it looks like all I needed was some extra time to work into it, get some feedback, and some reasons to revisit the piece (mostly due to my stubbornness in fixing up little details if possible).

So now here's the color version~~

I originally intended to replace the piece but then the change and extra edits were too drastic so a new submission it is (I'll just hide the grayscale one elsewhere in my gallery for comparison). xD

This started off as a spontaneous grayscale painting practice deriving elements from my current gaia online avatar.

I previously intended to try out gradient maps in photoshop but the values on this wasn't very good so it didn't work out. Fortunately, I found another (albeit imperfect) method that kind of mimics photoshop's gradient map adjustment tool in paint tool sai.
